A 2.9 Mile 5k

by Heather on October 31, 2009

Today’s 5k wasn’t really a 5k – it was 2.9 miles.  I was not running to beat my last time PR – I have 7 miles to run tomorrow.  This course is VERY different – there are two pretty major hills – one is a killer.  I was hoping to see how my time would be in a hilly 5k considering that the last race was FLAT.  Well I ran my 2.9 miles in 25:33 – I was really happy with that.  I felt like I was walking up the killer hill when in fact I was running – but I never stopped.  Hey at least I placed 4th in my age group!

After my run, I enjoyed a Stonyfield Farm Blueberry yogurt and then treated myself to a Honey Dew Iced Tea – today’s was more like sugar with a little iced tea.

October 31, 2009 004 I thought the Homecoming Parade was at 10:30 – turns out it was at 11:30.  I stopped by and said hello to Matt and then decided to come home to get a head start on my errands.

After a quick shower, I decided on some cereal for lunch.  In the bowl went: kiwi, Quaker Oatmeal Squares, Grape Nuts, Cascadian Farm Multi Grain Squares, and Back to Nature Chocolate Granola.  Plus some Rice Milk.

Be sure to tell the race director the course was short. Don’t just accept that. It’s easy – and very important – to correct it next time.
