Cookie Craving

by Heather on August 25, 2009

It will pass.  I know it will.  I have a love/hate relationship with my meal plan during the school year.  It is absolutely amazing to not have to pack a lunch or even dinner when I am here late at night.  I hate it because I am tempted each day with a delicious bakery offering GIANT cookies, cakes, and cupcakes.  Today was no different.

I have decided to TRY to stick with Cookie Friday this year and avoid the bakery counter other days during the week because the craving will pass.  I am not trying to deny myself cookies or dessert for that matter.  I know I do not have the willpower to only eat 1/2 the cookie.  Believe me.  I’ve tried.  I’ve wrapped the second 1/2 up for later, hidden it in my desk but somehow I can always rationalize myself out of only eating 1/2 the cookie.  That is why I am trying Cookie Friday – I can look forward to my cookie all week and make that cookie even more special.  In the mean time, I am going to try to bring in some smaller, more manageable desserts to have daily – like the small piece of chocolate I ate today!

You’ve been satisfied by a piece of Dark Chocolate with Deep Forest Mint

On to lunch.

I had an odd lunch today.  I took a baked potato and cut it up over a salad.  In the salad was:

  • spinach
  • tomato
  • cheddar cheese
  • mushrooms
  • beets
  • black beans
  • white beans
  • little drizzle of olive oil – no vinegar today!

I really like to do this with sweet potato but there was no sweet potatoes today.

I need to get into an afternoon groove – I have a Farmers’ Market to get to in a little while.

I’m definitely a bit jealous of your meal plan…such a good deal to not have to pack a lunch and be able to mix it up now and then!

Hi Susan – I agree completely – although sometimes, the meals get rather repetitive. I can’t complain though!
