I may be crazy, but last night I put an extra alarm clock in my room. Underneath the dresser – approximately 6 STEPS from a peaceful slumber – not a wave or a hit of a button on my bedside table. To turn that beep beep beep off, I had to get out of bed. I figured if I could get out of bed, that would solve my current “inability to get up an run in the morning” problem – 98% of the battle for me is getting up. Just an FYI…we have 3 alarm clocks in our room now.
You know what? This morning, I knew in my head that beep beep was coming, so I got up BEFORE it went off to turn it off (after 1st alarm went off). Who wants to wake up to that annoying beeping sound. You know what that means….I went on a run.
My pre-run snack – 1/2 a piece of Whole Wheat Cinnamon Raisin bread with soynut butter.
I decided to take it easy this week with my running. Right now I think I need to get back into a routine – getting up early and running. I don’t want to push myself too too hard and get discouraged – that will make it easier to get out of the early morning run habit.
I ran about 3.2 miles – boy was it humid. Sadly I also got a blister on the back of my right foot.
Anyways, on to breakfast. I bought some Egg Whites last week – I was going to make Egg Muffins but alas, that will have to wait for next weekend. Last night I decided an Oatmeal Pancake would be a perfect Monday morning breakfast so I combined:
- 1/3 cup Instant Oats
- 1/3 cup egg whites
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
This morning I added 1/2 a mashed banana to the mix and then cooked the pancake on the stove.
Then my favorite part. Chocolate Soynut butter (and the other 1/2 mashed banana). I used 1 tablespoon of the soynut butter.
A great way to start the work week. I have a feeling I will have tons of emails to go through – crossing my fingers I can get through them before lunch.
