Two years ago, I lived in Bristol, RI – a beautiful coastal community and home of the Longest Running 4th of July Parade in the country.
While in Bristol, Matt and I discovered THE BEST steamers we had ever had at Quitos Restaurant and Bar. I grew up eating Maine steamers – spending my summers with my Grandmother, but Rhode Island steamers top Maine’s – even my Mom would agree. We both love seafood – and steamers and lobster are my absolute faves!
Matt decided earlier in the week, that we were going to Quito’s this weekend – he wanted steamers. We have been talking about this all week and today we drove approximately 45 minutes to get said steamers. When we arrived at Quitos, we were met with this:
WHAT!?!?! The disappointment was huge. We checked out 3 other restaurants within walking distance to find no steamers on the menu. Not knowing what to do, Matt and I ended up back at Quitos and got the next best thing. Fried food.
I ordered the Half & Half with Strip Clams and Calamari while Matt ordered the Lobster Bisque and the Whole Clam Seafood Dinner – and then was served the Whole Clam Dinner. Disappointment #2 for the evening.
The Lobster Bisque was delish though.
My dinner:
I ate all the clams, some of the fries and 2-3 calamari – the calamari were Disappointment #3.
We decided to drown our sorrows and split a glass of Wente Riesling – I thought it was ok – Matt thought it was Disappointment #4.
After dinner, we ran some errands and while at Target, I picked up dessert, which Matt and I split.
Tomorrow is going to be a relaxing day! I am going to try to sit by our apartment complex pool for a bit, maybe read a book and hopefully catch up with some friends. Enjoy your evening!
