Mentally not in the run

by Heather on October 11, 2009

This morning I lounged in bed until about 9:30 am and the got up to go for a run.  My goal was to to conquer Week 8, Day 2 of my couch to 10k running plan.  Remember, I hate day 2.  Today was 10 6-minute running sets – 3 minutes of easy jogging followed by 3 minutes of fast running.  Not my favorite.

Before heading out, I had 1/2 of a Cliff Spooky S’mores Z-bar.

I must say, today was an awful run.  I had zero motivation, my legs were heavy and mentally I just could not push myself.  I walked a lot and stopped a few times to stretch my legs – they would not loosen up.  I was very frustrated with myself when I arrived home.  Tomorrow is another day…

I decided to dust and vacuum the apartment before brunch – I have been craving hash browns lately so we picked some up at Whole Foods yesterday.  Matt cooked them in Smart Balance Cooking Oil and they were delicious – not too oily!

Along with the hash browns, I had one egg

A perfect meal.

I have cleaned Sammy the fish’s bowl and have about 5 loads of laundry to finish.  An exciting dinner later…

Five loads of laundry! Girl, you have a lot of wardrobe changes ;)

I’m sorry you had a bad run. Don’t get down about it though. Tomorrow’s another day and I’m sure you’ll be back at it after a lazy Sunday.

Enjoy your dinner!

It’s amazing how some runs can just feel like a breeze and others are awful. I ran 13.5 over the weekend. It felt so easy, I just kept going. But sometimes, I go out for a quick 3 miles, and it feels like my legs are made of lead! Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for a bad run.
