I shook up my pre-run snack today. With what you ask…COOKIES. After reading Jenna’s article yesterday and the Eat Like a Triathlete post on Runner’s Kitchen, I knew figs would be a great way to try something new.
Yesterday I stopped off at the grocery store to buy some flour (after the pizza dough catastrophe on Sunday, I used almost all the flour), I picked up some of these
I ate a Fig Newton Newman and then laced up my sneakers. I have been fighting a nasty blister on my right ankle for over a week now. On Sunday I started using this miracle cream on it
My blister is about 85% gone now. I put on my blister-preventing socks this morning hoping the extra cushioning would help my cause
Laced up my sneakers
And realized I still had some nasty rubbing on my blisters. I walked around the apartment for a bit and decided that in the best interest of my ankles, it was best to let them heal for one more day and keep applying the magical cream. I was really looking forward to my run this morning and I was honestly kinda disappointed – perhaps my running cravings are kicking back into gear?
For breakfast, I decided to make some overnight oats – and use a blueberry muffin from dinner last night as a topping! Perfect – since I was out of blueberries.
Overnight I soaked:
- 1/3 cup of Organic Oats
- 1/3 cup of Vanilla Oatmilk
Today I added:
- 1 mashed banana
- blueberry muffin
- 1/2 cup of Stonyfield Farm Fat Free French Vanilla
- Homemade granola for crunch
Plus the last of the juice (apple, pineapple, celery, carrot) from yesterday
Look at these oats!
I loved the addition of the muffin to the oats – almost enough to make muffins to always have around. The combination of the textures of the muffin and granola were great – always kept my mouth guessing. I loved the bites with a big piece of muffin…mmmm. I wish I had tried a muffin in my oats sooner!
I have meetings from 10 am – 12 pm and 1 pm – 2pm – I hate days like this. I find it hard to get anything done (of course, I have tons to do)- I need to get in a grove to be very productive.
How do you get work done when your day is full of meetings?

I’m sure you’re feet appreciated another day to heal. So frustrating though when you really want to get out there. Tomorrow, for sure!
yay for fig newmans! i hope your blister feels better – they are the worst! i had to perform a little self-surgery (needle + alcohol) on a particularly nasty blister back in January. ugh.
and the overnight oats look lovely! I need to make them again soon
I agree – I hope they feel better tomorrow – although tomorrow its supposed to be very hot and humid!
I agree blisters are the worse! Thanks for the idea of the Fig Newmans!
