Salmon Cakes

by Heather on May 10, 2010

After work I headed to the grocery store because both Matt and I were too lazy to go yesterday.  I was in and out pretty quickly and made it home about the same time Matt did.

On the menu for tonight was Salmon Cakes – we haven’t had this recipe in a long time and I forgot how good it is.

With the Salmon Cakes, I cooked some whole wheat orzo and roasted some asparagus in the oven…

I ended up mixing everything together – my favorite way to eat this meal.  I cannot tell you how easy these salmon cakes are – I highly recommend them.

Runners Question: After my longer runs (7+ miles), I always seem so exhausted.  I know some of that is normal, however, I feel almost wiped out for a day or two.  I wonder if it has something to do with how I fuel – both before and after…

Looking back at this weekend, I realize I didn’t eat any carbs for dinner on Saturday yet I probably ate too many carbs last night for dinner.

Do you have any foods/meals you recommend around your long runs…?  How do you make sure you are properly hydrated?

That dinner looks amazing!
Do you typically eat or drink anything (besides water)while you run? I would recommend trying a gatorade or gel and having it during your run.
I would also make sure to eat carbs before and after your run. You might have to see what works best for you but typically something not too high in fiber cause that could make your stomach upset.
