I absolutely love salsa but always hesitate to add it to my salads at work because it is too spicy – I end up adding sour cream to dull the spiciness. That defeats the purpose of salsa doesn’t it?!?
Today I solved the world’s problems my problem by bringing salsa from home. In keeping with cafeteria-sponsored Taco Tuesday, I created my own taco salad that included:
- Romaine Lettuce and Spinach
- Cucumber
- Red Pepper
- Onion
- Mushrooms
- Black beans
- cheddar cheese
- Sweet potato
- SALSA
This was an amazing salad – I absolutely loved the salsa – gave this same old same old salad a completely new flavor.
I will probably do this again next Tuesday!
Have you tried a new salad topping lately?

That salad is really good for you. Lot of great food in there. Love the bright colors as well!

I LOVE adding salsa to salads…but I like the spice
I’ve been liking radishes lately. I like the crunch and the bitter bite.
I LOVE cottage cheese on my salads. I might need to bring it back. I also like alfalfa sprouts!
GIRL That looks great! i put cc on my salad today too!
Great way to solve the problem! I would probably do that too, because you’re right, the sour cream does sort of defeat the whole purpose of using the healthier salsa. Sounds like a great salad. I need to start eating more salads soon, I’m getting sick of soup and squash! haha, you know, food jags.
