Take 1 Million

by Heather on August 17, 2010

I feel like I have stopped and started the Couch to 10k program about 1 million times in the last few weeks.  At least 3 to be precise – but who is counting.

This time I am hoping not to be sidelined with shin splints again.  They are getting kinda old.  I headed out for a 20 minute tempo run again and have no idea how many miles I ran – my Garmin’s battery was dead.  It was so humid out.  I found it hard to get into a groove.

Yesterday, while sitting at my desk and needing a momentary distraction from the 1 million emails I received while in New Jersey last week, I decided to make a Vanilla Carnation Instant breakfast, frozen blueberries and banana smoothie for breakfast.   IMG_9271

You know what – I should concoct breakfast plans in the middle of emails more often.  I’m pretty good at it!

I hope you don’t get shin splints again. Have you thought of getting fitted for new shoes and having your gait checked?

That smoothie looks delicious! I love that bright color! I have to start making more smoothies. The weather in Vegas is so hot and a smoothie would be the perfect drink to cool down.

I hope you don’t get shin splints! I currently have them — not fun!

Smoothie looks awesome, as usual! :)

That smoothie looks great! Makes we want to try a veganized blueberry shake. Yum! Try doing some shin strengthening exercises. They’re on runnersworld.com. Good luck!

Ugh, I hate shin splints! Do you think maybe you aren’t taking your training at a slow enough pace? I mean when I used to get shin splints my doctor and coach always told me they were caused by pushing myself too hard, too fast. Just a thought. If you continue to run on them they could turn into stress fractures, which are about 100 times worse (I’m sure you know this already though, as you are more of a runner than I will ever be!!).

Great looking smoothie. I love Carnation Instant Breakfasts! You jazzed it up quite well :)
