Tufts 10k for Women

by Heather on October 11, 2010

Fact: I woke up today thinking I had no business to run the Tufts 10k for Women.

Fact: The last time I ran 6 miles was my half marathon in June.  The highest mileage I have ran lately is 3.6 miles.

Fact: It was a beautiful day in Boston with perfect running temperatures.

IMG_0051 Fact:  I had some great friends to run the race with – Jenn and Maribeth

IMG_0056Fact: It took us FOREVER to get to the start line but at least the beginning part of the race was downhill

Fact: I felt amazing while running this race.  I could not believe it.

Fact: This is the first time EVER I have ever run without my headphones.  When I ran my Disney half marathon, my amazing spectators were shouting my name and I didn’t hear it.  It is now referred to as the “Heather” when you don’t acknowledge your fans while running.  I did today, in fact, acknowledge my fans.

Fact: I finished this race in 1:02:05.  A PR since this is my first 10k.

My garmin messed up a little bit – it turned on in my backpack so please disregard most of lap 6.

Fact: I ate two bagels today – one immediately after the race and a pizza bagel before we left Boston.  I haven’t had that many bagels in so long.  I think my belly is on bagel overload.

Fact: I am exhausted and think I’m going to hit the couch.  So much for paper writing tonight.

Fact: I think the Tufts 10k for Women may be my new favorite race!

Great job on the 10K! I’m so jealous you ran this race! I basically had a similar experience as you monday morning except I opted out of running it due to stress etc. But this looks like a great race and well organized I’ll definitely be doing it with Kelly next year haha : )
