Saturday, February 4: 8 miles with Matt:
This 8 miles was no where near as easy as my 7 last weekend. I spent Friday night working and on my feet for the majority of 5 hours – I think that was of the major reasons. My legs felt like lead balloons and I definitely felt the soreness on Sunday.
After our run both Matt and I slept for about and hour and a half – my body must be getting used to this running again – and adjusting to both being back in school again and my long work schedule. We over ran a little bit too far on our out and back journey so had a longer walk back to the apartment – I think that helped a lot and I bet I would have been more sore if we had not.
Friday, February 10th: 9 miles
My week got crazy for various reasons and it ended up that I had most of Friday off; as it looked like that, I decided to move my Saturday 9 miles to Friday to 1) take advantage of the 50 degree weather and 2) I had to work on Saturday and did not want to have to rush it. Plus it ended up “snowing” on Saturday (snow never stuck).
I was LOVIN the weather – and my run was good – my average pace was about 30 seconds faster per mile then our 8 mile run the previous week. My legs felt heavy on Friday night and Saturday but by Sunday they felt great. Interestingly, just looking at my pace – my 9 miler and 7 miler a few weeks ago had the same pace. I’m feeling good for next week’s 10 mile race!
Sunday, February 12th: 3.25 miles (unplanned)
I was working on my homework for most of the day and told myself once I got to a certain point I could spend some quality time on the couch. Once I got to that point, I decided to forgo the couch – and go for a 3 mile run. I decided to run for 2 reasons: 1) clear my head, 2) hopefully help me sleep tonight and 3) so I could belt out some Whitney Houston – RIP.
My run felt AMAZING. My legs felt fresh (as cliché as that sounds) and I was able to run all three miles with a negative split – my last mile was probably one of the fastest I have run in a while.
All this and it was butt freezing cold out
Yikes is right! It was cold…
Friday, February 17, 2012: 3.25 miles with Matt:
This morning’s run was not easy on many levels – it was not easy to get out of bed and my legs felt like lead. It was 42 degrees out – very cloudy but at least it was warm. I have had a loooong week at work and struggled a lot with wanting to run vs. wanting to sleep. Sleep won. A lot.
I need to get back into the habit of running more during the week – it puts me in a much better mood and clears my head.
Sunday is our 10 mile race – I am hoping the weather holds out – right now things are looking good:
Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 42. North wind between 3 and 9 mph.
